Founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Dr. Laurel Victoria Gray - World Dance professor at George Washington University - the award-winning , critically acclaimed Silk Road Dance Company (SRDC) presents an extensive repertoire of more than 130 dances from Central Asia, Iran, the Middle East, South Asia, the Caucasus. and beyond.
Since we were founded in 1995, the Silk Road Dance Company has performed at numerous Iranian, Afghan, Egyptian, Lebanese, Libyan, Azeri, Indian and Pakistani weddings throughout Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C. and New York. We have a delightful selection of dances appropriate for joyous celebrations.
Since 1995, Silk Road Dance Company has worked with many different organizations throughout the United States in addition to our numerous private clients. Here are just a few of the different groups that have engaged us over the years.
Internationally recognized dance scholar, choreographer, and performer, Laurel Victoria Gray has devoted her life to mastering dances from Silk Road cultures and beyond. She combines her degrees in history with decades of field research and teaches dance at George Washington University and George Mason University.
