Introducing Simple MFG: a new name for Tru-Test ’s Contract Manufacturing Service (July 2008) After nearly 20 years of providing Contract Manufacturing services to firms in New Zealand, Australia and around the world, Tru-Test Ltd is re-branding this important part of the business under the name Simple MFG. The main purpose of the re-branding is to improve the visibility of the manufacturing services that Tru-Test offers to technology companies. The development also recognises the strategic importance of this part of the business to Tru-Test Group. “We have a lot to offer local technology companies, whether it be to support their own capacity in peak times, or provide product delivery solutions to those who have a great product but do not want to invest in their own plant ” says Stephen Patterson – Contract Manufacturing Manager. “Over the last couple of years Tru-Test has made significant investment in both equipment and people to support the manufacturing process for both our internal and external customers. We certainly feel that Simple MFG will provide a viable alternative to offshore facilities for product delivery services for a great number of businesses in Australasia ”. Continued Investment in Equipment (June 2008) The recent acquisition of a 10 Zone reflow oven and a lead-free wave solder machine, have allowed the splitting of OEM and Contract Manufacturing at Tru-Test Limited This has resulted in the dedication of a fully automated SMT line almost entirely to Contract Manufacturing, as well as providing world class lead-free capabilities. “Contract Manufacturing is extremely important to us ” says Darcy Sheffield – Manufacturing Manager at Tru-Test. “It focuses and drives on-going investment, investments that on their own neither OEM nor Contract Manufacturing could justify. Plus it ensures that capital purchases are defrayed across a significantly larger cost base than would otherwise be possible where we operate solely as a Contract Manufacturer. ” Keeping abreast of new technology is often an expensive process and Tru-Test believe that the dual strategy employed here will provide all our customers with only the smartest and most cost effective solutions on offer.
