about us Slate Design, Ltd. was formed by Mark Daniel in 2001. What began as a 1-man design/build shop has evolved into a multi-disciplinary product design firm. Slate has an extensive portfolio, with work ranging from soup bowls to bedroom furniture. We have experience in a variety of materials as well, with products manufactured in veneered and solid wood, steel, aluminum, ceramics and blown glass. We've had the opportunity to design exclusive products for a number of leading US retailers, including Crate and Barrel, CB2, Design Within Reach, Storehouse, Marshall Fields/Macys and Z Gallerie. Talented people from around the world help make our ideas a reality. We spend time with each factory in the US, Asia and Europe to understand their capabilities and their production processes.
