Description

Unlike most learning centers, our care does not stop at 6pm. We understand that everyone has different care needs and would like to accommodate our families in as many ways as possible. Our evening care program operates from the hours of 6:00pm-11:30pm. Our goal is to provide a safe familiar home like environment where students can unwind in the evening. Evening care is not structured like our general classroom setting, but instead consists of more free time to help the student relax. Students are fed dinner at 6:30 and an evening snack at 8:00pm. At 9:00pm the students are put to bed comfortably on cots with their own blankets or sleeping bags.

We offer a variety of camps throughout the year. Our camps take place during the summer, spring, and winter breaks of the school districts we provide services for. Each of our camp programs provides preschoolers (ages 3+) and elementary students with a full day program of fun learning activities. Our parents feel good knowing their children are enjoying their breaks while continuing to learning in a safe, happy, and familiar environment.

Small People Big Dreams Learning Center is a private licensed learning center and pre-school. We are categorized as a learning center, not a daycare, because we provide a curriculum based education as well as a loving and nurturing atmosphere. Our curriculum is child centered with concentrations in American Sign Language, Spanish, Multi-cultural activities and play. All of the teachers and staff at Small People Big Dreams Learning Center are first- aid/ CPR certified and have extensive instruction and training In early childhood education. We focus on quality not quantity at our learning center which is why practice hands-on one-on-one learning. Our staff-to-student ratios are often very small and consist of usually 3-5 students per teacher. To ensure the highest rate of family satisfaction we conduct quarterly parent surveys to make sure that each family is being accommodated during their child's enrollment at SPBD. At Small People Big Dreams we believe that it is important that children stay active. We have a large play area out back and take weekly field trips throughout the year.

SPBD implements a routine that is flexible and responds to the needs and interests of children in care. The routine includes things such as; meeting the physical needs of children in care, thirty minutes of physical activity every day, child initiated and provider initiated activities and daily outdoor play, weather permitting. Additionally, we use the Mother Goose Times Preschool and Infant/toddler curriculum that engages children in developmentally appropriate activities by planning specific age-appropriate learning experiences. The curriculum includes things such as; learning self-help skills that foster independence, opportunities to gain problem solving and decision making competency skills and leadership skills. We offer opportunities to learn about proper nutrition, good health and personal safety. We also provide an environment that promotes cultural, social and individual diversity.
