Dr. Uchida started learning how to use Botox for dental therapy back in 2007, and is continuing to take advanced courses now. In 2012 legislation in Hawaii was passed allowing dentists to administer Botox for therapeutic purposes. Botox is a treatment that has been used successfully for dental therapy both on the mainland US and internationally for over 5 years.

Using a small pill, people can now have their dental care accomplished while they're totally relaxed and absolutely comfortable. Extensive procedures seem to go by faster and patients do not remember it the next day. Not remembering their dental treatment is a big plus for some people. Oral sedation also keeps a person in healing mode (parasympathetic mode) longer immediately after surgery. Oral sedation is one of the most effective techniques we have ever incoorporated into our practice.
