Or maybe you've never quite been able to duplicate your grandmother's pot roast. Why not gather your family members' favorite recipes and create a family cookbook? There are probably many, many family recipes that can be gathered and preserved now to allow this and future generations to cherish and enjoy them. Most families have a unique collection of recipes that are special just to them, recipes they've brought with them or were passed down from "the old country" or that might be specialties of the region in which they live. Regardless, every family cookbook will end up having a special blend of history and personality brought to it by its contributors. I wish I had thought to do my own family album a little sooner. The best cooks in my family were my grandmother's sisters. My Aunt Minnie made some dishes that were lost when she passed away two years ago. Nobody has those recipes. Some families still cook their ethnic recipes and others, in the effort to blend in, have lost their recipes. Just think what it would be like to have all those recipes brought together in one book, booklet or whatever format you choose. Here are some tips for making a family cookbook: You can either create the cookbook by yourself, or enlist family members to help. If family members help, you might appoint a different person to edit each category
