Especially as adults, we are used to being masters of our craft, and it takes guts and perseverence to learn a new skill. Being a beginner at anything is humbling and exciting at the same time. It usually takes about one year to feel comfortable on the dance floor. I have been dancing for over 35 years and am still discovering more and more about the movement of each dance. The more you know, you realize that you have barely scratched the surface. Be patient with yourself and laugh instead of cry when you make mistakes. Partners would rather dance with you when you are smiling!
