MADISON, N.J., - January 22, 2014 - Quest Diagnostics (NYSE: DGX), the world's leading provider of diagnostic information services, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement under which Quest will acquire Solstas Lab Partners Group and its subsidiaries (Solstas) for a total transaction value of approximately $570 million. Solstas is a portfolio company of Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe, a private-equity firm specializing in information/business services and healthcare businesses.

Dr. Shiro grew up in Waterville, Maine. He graduated from Williams College in 1980 and earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1985. He spent one year, 1983, completing a fellowship in pathology at U.V.M. While at Williams College, Dr. Shiro coached the women’s hockey team and lettered in golf. He was, otherwise, a typical pre-medical student who spent all of his time in the library (re-named Shiro Memorial Library by his classmates).

Janice Hessling, M.D., Ph.D. serves as the Corporate Medical Director for Solstas Lab Partners, overseeing the main Clinical Laboratory, the Molecular Laboratory, Flow Cytometry and the Anatomic Pathology Department located in Greensboro, N.C. Dr. Hessling is a graduate of Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C. She completed her residency training at Duke Medical Center, which included a fifth year in a Surgical Pathology Fellowship with an emphasis in Immunohistochemistry. Dr.
