That’s 30 minutes total – remove old shoes, trim hoof, prep, mix adhesive, apply, wait for cure & remove wrap… done. -We suggest you PRACTICE the stretch wrap technique by lifting the hoof and applying wrap without the shoe. Stretch wrapping is the key to success…. if you know how to secure the shoe quickly & effectively, the hoof will be off the ground for less than 90 seconds. Feedback from farriers using the Sound Horse shoes shows that most have the hoof off the ground for less than 60 seconds while applying the shoe. -Significant advantages over "direct glue" techniques include: -A clean, dry hoof assures success…. trim & prepare the hoof as usual and use a clean piece of sandpaper for the final prep on the hoof wall. Once the shoe is applied and stretch-wrapped to secure it to the hoof, you are done – set the foot down. After 8-10 minutes (at 70F) remove the stretch wrap. FINISHED -- do not sand, rasp, shape or work the finished cuff in any way. This is why the stretch-wrap is important. It secures the shoe, accelerates the cure & assures a smooth, hard surface – all in one step!
