Description

SouthWest Metro Transit Commission (SMTC) was created in 1986 under a Joint Powers Agreement between Chanhassen, Chaska, and Eden Prairie to provide the three cities with public transit service.SMTC is governed by a seven person Commission. Each of the three cities has an appointed member as well as an elected official. The seventh member is a rider representative.SMTC has grown since 1986. Today, we operate a fleet of more than 50 buses and offer service to Downtown and Uptown Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota, along I-494 to Normandale Lakes Office Park and Normandale Community College, as well as local service in Chanhassen, Chaska, and Eden Prairie.
