Remodeling is invasive to the home, and based on the size of the project, may require the homeowner to find living space elsewhere until the project is complete. We do our best to accommodate the homeowner remaining in the house by providing temporary services, e.g. kitchen sink, stove hook up, functioning bathroom, etc. Many projects, though, are of the size or in a location within the home that the homeowner continues to live within the structure being remodeled without having to provide any additional capabilities. All SCD addition projects that require design can be provided to the homeowner and the project will be constructed from those plans. We design almost all of our remodels/additions. Each project is checked for engineering and structural design by qualified engineers prior to beginning the project.

Since 1997, Southern Construction & Design Inc., has provided residential construction services to the North Alabama market. We offer services in the areas of New Construction, Remodels, Additions, and Design. NSPE Code of Ethics for Engineers – Engineer’s Creed ”As a Professional Engineer, I dedicate my professional knowledge and skill to the advancement and betterment of human welfare. I pledge: To give the utmost of performance; To participate in none but honest enterprise; To live and work according to the laws of man and the highest standards of professional conduct; To place service before profit, the honor and standing of the profession before personal advantage, and the public welfare above all other considerations. In humility and with need for Divine Guidance, I make this pledge.” One of the very last statements of this creed is most compelling, ”and (to place) the public welfare above all other considerations.” Apply this to the opening comments in regards to time management and we can easily make the parallel of where we must above all other considerations place the public welfare. Now, in context, one can argue that this is merely a tenet to follow during the engineering design process to provide our services to the public in a safe and proficient manner and thus protect the public welfare.
