About SIRC and Our Staff Southern Impact Research Center, LLC ("SIRC") is located in Knoxville, Tennessee. SIRC was co-founded by Dave Halstead and Bob Drew in 1995, and is dedicated to reducing injuries, with an emphasis on personal protective equipment such as helmets. Dave Halstead chairs, or serves on several committees with the American Society of Testing & Materials, which have developed standards for bicycle helmets, downhill racing helmets, hockey helmets and other helmets.

We provide independent product testing to specific standards. This service can include sample selection, quality control inspection/audits and other associated assignments.

Elizabeth McCalley Elizabeth is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Mechanical, Aerospace and Engineering Science Department within the College of Engineering at The University of Tennessee in 2006. During her time at UT, Elizabeth competed for the Lady Volunteer cross country and track and field teams. She earned All SEC and All South Region honors in cross country and was also an instrumental part in the team winning back to back SEC championships.
