a southern singer/songwriter who writes jazz, funk, and Americana music. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Burke lives in Fairhope, Alabama. He combines the sounds of New Orleans with the folk simplicity of the deep south. and adds poetic spiritual messages with his well thought out lyrics. People of all ages and all backgrounds can find something they like about his songs. Burke's voice is clean and smooth. His delivery and tone has been compared to those of Michael Franks, Paul Simon, Tracy Chapman, Nick Drake, James Taylor, Cassandra Wilson, and Jimmy Scott. Independence, Louisiana is a multi-genre record covering the styles of New Orleans jazz, new folk, pop, funk, Latin jazz, and blues. Finished only months before Hurricane Katrina changed the musical landscape of New Orleans in 2005, this record is a unique snapshot in time that will never be reproduced.
