Previously served 10 years with the Corps of Engineers including duties as Chief of the Levee Design Section and Program Manager for the National Dam Safety Program in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Current role as an independent consultants includes, dam inspections, facilitation of PFMA, geotechnical design and management of FERC licensing and compliance. Representative career project experience includes the following: Potential Failure Mode facilitator for FERC hydroelectric projects in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and Florida (2003) -Served as FERC approved independent consultant on over 30 Part 12 inspections for projects located nationwide (1980-2003). -Managed the preparation of FERC license applications for 24 projects located throughout the United States. Project size ranged from 600 kW to 1000 MW (1981-2003). -Seneca Falls Hydroelectric Project, Seneca Falls, New York Seneca Falls project included stability analysis using a sensitivity analysis for this 50-foot high gravity structure and implementation of an exploration program to investigate soluble voids and foundation of powerhouse. Onsite work included dye testing, preliminary grout testing and down the hole photography (2002). -Byllesby Dam, Dakota County MN- Recent studies at the Lake Byllesby Dam included an evaluation of the erodibility of the rock spillway. This included core holes to identify the character of bedrock at depth and recommendations regarding potential remediation. Other work at Byllesby Dam included a sensitivity study to evaluate potential for sliding along the bedrock/concrete contact. The evaluation included CSLIDE analysis (2003) -Dead Colt Creek-Project Manager for the design of seepage control at the Dead Colt Creek Dam in North Dakota. Evaluation of abutment seepage for this 90-foot high earth structure included finite element analysis and a comparison of slurry trench cut-off alternatives with upstream impervious blankets (1985). -Ejigbo-Served as Principal Geotechnical Engineer for the Ejigbo water supply project in Nigeria. Project responsibilities included design of an 80 foot high earth embankment and overflow spillway in addition to design of a treatment plant and distribution system (1984). -Lorella Pumped Storage Project-Served as project manager for the development of the preliminary design of this $1 billion pumped storage project.
