Description
SpectraCare Health Systems, Inc Who We Are SpectraCare Health Systems is a regional community-based system that provides mental health, substance abuse and intellectual disability services in Southeast Alabama in Barbour, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston Counties. SpectraCare, formerly known as Wiregrass Mental Health Board, was established in 1968 under Act 310 of the Alabama State Legislature. SpectraCare is a tax-exempt public non-profit corporation under the IRS Code Section 501(c) 3. Contributions or donations to SpectraCare are deductible for income tax purposes. SpectraCare is certified to provide services by the Alabama Department of Mental Health. We work with various state and local agencies to provide needed services to the citizens of our five-county area. Referral for services is usually made by physicians, other service agencies, institutions, schools, churches, and family members. Mission Statement The mission of SpectraCare Health Systems is to provide quality mental health, intellectual disabilities, and substance abuse services within the limits of available resources to citizens of Barbour, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston Counties, and to assure that these services are provided with respect for the individual’s dignity and privacy in the least restrictive environment necessary to promote recovery. Value and Philosophy SpectraCare is committed to providing services that will promote positive consumer, family and provider relationships, and to establishing priorities for services with primary emphasis on the Seriously Mentally Ill, Substance Abuse, and Intellectual Disabilities population. Funding for Services Funding is provided through United Way, local government appropriations, contributions, federal, state and local contracts, insurance, and fees charged. Services are available to every citizen of the Board’s five-county area in Southeast Alabama. However, there may be some restrictions to service availability due to system financial constraints, program capacity, or priority of diagnosis. Any individual needing services is screened and evaluated to determine types of services needed and eligibility for available services. Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and other third-party payments are accepted as payment. Individuals wishing to not utilize any available insurance or third party payment sources will be responsible for payment of all of the fees charged. Individuals needing services may apply for a reduction of customary fees. The reduction of fee charges is based on the individual’s family household income and number of individuals dependent upon that income. Documents providing proof of the family household income are necessary to receive a reduction of fees. If a reduction of fees is not necessary, proof of family household income is not necessary. Leadership of Organization The leadership of the organization is composed of a Board of Directors appointed by the various local governmental units. The Board has responsibility and authority for overall conduct of the operations of SpectraCare.
