Environmental Responsibility On May 21st, 2009, Spring Valley Dairy proudly became an EarthWISE Certified business. By fulfilling the EarthWISE certification criteria, Spring Valley Dairy is playing a significant role in the protection of the environment in Marion County. EarthWISE is an environmental assistance program offered to all businesses operating in Marion County. This program aids businesses in achieving environmental responsibility and sustainability in the following focus areas: • Recycling • Waste reduction and prevention • Environmentally preferable purchasing • Energy efficiency and conservation • Water pollution prevention • Outreach and education EarthWISE certification recognizes businesses in Marion County that have committed to environmentally friendly practices by meeting or exceeding the criteria in these focus areas. To fulfill the EarthWISE criteria, Spring Valley Dairy implemented a company-wide, on-site recycling program that has resulted in a tremendous decrease in landfill contribution; developed an email format for invoices and price notifications that conserves thousands of sheets of paper and envelopes annually; and established a Green Team of employees that are responsible for maintaining EarthWISE Certification criteria as well as assisting coworkers with implementing EarthWISE practices. These methods are only a few of the many ways Spring Valley Dairy strives to do our part to help the environment.
