What is a typical day of school for a Goretti Student? Students arrive in homeroom by 8:15 a.m., and dismiss at 2:55 p.m. There are seven 47-minute classes in the day, and they are on a fixed schedule. There are two lunch shifts, the first of which begins at 10:59 a.m., and the second shift begins at 11:46 a.m. Each day begins with a prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and daily announcements. The Angelus is said before the first lunch, and the day ends with a prayer and additional announcements. Do all Goretti Students wear uniforms? Yes, all students are required to wear uniforms. The Summer uniform is worn from the first day of school through October, then again from April through the last day of school. The Winter uniform is worn from November through March, and does include a uniform shoe. What extracurricular activities are available at Goretti? Extracurricular activities are not required, but students are encouraged to participate. Goretti offers many clubs and activities from which to choose, and they can change based on the interests of the students. Currently, the following clubs and activities are offered: Student Council, Drama, Choir, Yearbook, Rock Band, National Honor Society, Photography Club, Service Club, National Art Honor Society, French National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Ski Club, Newspaper, Varsity Club, Homecoming Committee, Prom Committee, International Club, Science Club, Chess Club, Morning Star Rosary Group, Technology Club and Book Club. We proudly offer thirteen interscholastic sports, including: Boys & Girls Soccer, Basketball, & Lacrosse, Boys Baseball, Girls Volleyball, Softball, & Cheerleading, and Co-ed Golf, Tennis & Swimming. What does it cost to attend Goretti? Tuition for 2010-2011 is $10,000 for Catholic families, and $12,000 for non-Catholic families. Tuition payment plans are available. Other expenses include uniforms and books. What foreign language classes are offered to students? St. Maria Goretti High School offers two modern foreign languages: Spanish & French. Both languages have College Prep and Honors courses. Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish is also offered. Latin 1 and 2 are offered as a classical language. What Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered to students? Advanced Placement Courses are offered for: Spanish, English Lit/Comp., Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, US History, Government & Politics U.S., and Biology. How many credits are required to Graduate? Twenty-seven credits are required to graduate from St. Maria Goretti High School, including 4 English, 4 Math, 3 Science, 3 Social Studies, 2 Foreign Language (consecutive), 4 Religious Studies, 2 Physical Education & Health, 1 Fine Arts, and 4 Electives. What is St. Maria Goretti High School’s grading system? 90-99 = A, 80-89 = B, 70-79 = C, 65-69 = D, Below 65 = 0 . Weighted grades are offered for Honors & AP classes.
