Description

The Theatre history at St. Mary’s High School is vast and expansive. There have been only five directors, total, in the school’s rich history. The theatre is a place where a St. Mary’s student can expect to work hard and feel pride in the work they do. It is an after school program that reinforces all of the core values of the school. Who can be part of the theatre? Anyone who attends St. Mary’s High School. Why should students be a part the theatre? Because they want to be part of something important. St. Mary’s High School puts a lot of pride in everything the school does and the plays put on are certainly no exception. The theatre strives to not only give the audience the best in what high school theatre has to offer, it delivers on this promise to students and alumni, as well. Everyone is welcome. Everyone has a place. To be part of a team doesn’t necessarily mean one has to play on the field. There are competitive acting opportunities, but there is also work back stage, in the tech booth and building sets for the show. If a student is looking for family spirit, he needs to look no further than the St. Mary’s Theatre. No other theatre encourages students to create their own lighting, sound and stage designs. No other theatre can offer the acting expertise and passion for acting like the St. Mary’s Director. Members of the St. Mary’s theatre have gone on to do great things at school: They are leaders, Ambassadors and class Valedictorians. Members of the theatre have also utilized their theatre skills in the world today. They have gone on to become professional actors, technical designers, lawyers and public speakers. The skills learned from being part of the St. Mary’s theatre are invaluable and will help students in the future. There are two productions a year: One in the fall and one in the spring. Auditions and signup sheets for the Theatre are distributed around school at these times. DON’T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY! Come see why the St. Mary’s Theatre Program is the best kept secret in the school’s history! Catch the fire, feel the roar of the Dragon and the love of our Mother, Mary in all that you do. Sincerely, Mr. Jeremy Curran, Director St. Mary’s Graduating Class of 2000.
