The STAIR consensus conferences and STAIR online are intended to improve our understanding of issues critical to stroke drug and device development and advance knowledge essential to the successful development of new acute stroke treatments. The STAIR - Stroke Treatment Academic Industry Roundtable - Consensus Conferences are unique in a number of ways. - - - - - - -In addition to the STAIR meetings, a STEPS -- Stem Cell Therapies as an Emerging Paradigm in Stroke consensus conference was convened in 2007 following the STAIR model. All conference participants are given the opportunity to engage in this collaborative process resulting in a consensus statement, which is submitted to a major scientific journal for publication. The STAIR goal is to develop recommendations that maximize opportunities for successfully, efficiently and rapidly mounting and completing acute stroke studies. Six STAIR and one STEPS consensus conferences have been held. The consensus statements produced from STAIR conferences I through V, have all been published in the journal Stroke. The published recommendations are widely referenced and applied to the process of stroke drug/device development. These STAIR consensus statements are made available here. Upon their publication, we'll post the STAIR VI and STEPS consensus manuscripts here as well.
