State Street Ballet is a vibrant, innovative professional dance company based in Santa Barbara, California. Founded in 1995 by former American Ballet Theatre dancer Rodney Gustafson, the company combines the discipline and timeless elegance of classical ballet technique with updated, cutting-edge choreography. Combining this with special effects and technology, the company produces original works that satisfy today's diverse audiences.

With our 2014-15 Season , State Street Ballet celebrates 20 years as Santa Barbara’s resident ballet company. Founded in 1994, the company has grown from a small, ambitious start-up to a world-class dance company, respected and admired for both technical versatility and artistic depth. From its inception, the company has strived to produce intelligent new works, designed to satisfy today’s diverse audiences by blending the timeless elegance of classical ballet with updated looks, theatrical effects, and contemporary style.

State Street Ballet's Summer Intensive is for serious ballet students age 12–21. Classes include ballet technique, pointe, partnering, modern, jazz, character, and strength-building classes. We provide students with the opportunity to learn and perform excellent choreography, which ranges from classical to contemporary in style. The artistry of dance is expressed through choreography, and we place a strong emphasis on its value. Our Summer Intensive Program culminates in a fully staged performance that friends and family can attend on Friday, July 11th, 2014.
