RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT Stepworks is a drug and alcohol treatment center in Elizabethtown, Kentucky (1 hour south of Louisville, KY). Stepworks residential drug rehab provides licensed residential treatment in the historic Helm Mansion. Our treatment center have 16 beds, with approximately half available for male clients and half for female clients. Stepworks is very special. We provide client-focused care in a comfortable setting. For many residential clients, the first phase is medical detox (detoxification), which may sound difficult or even scary. But you can do it, and we can help make the process as safe and positive as possible. We provide medical detox through our licensed medical director, Thomas Ingram, MD. The term "drug rehab" at times has negative connotations, but for Stepworks, drug rehab and alcohol rehab mean the beginning of a new, healthy life for courageous people fighting the disease of addiction in their lives. Residential treatment involves a combination of individual, group, and family therapy. In addition to rehabilitation, activities and daily chores are also a part of drug and alcohol treatment as patients rediscover responsibility for themselves and accountability to their peers. We use a lifestyle curriculum developed by Hazelden. This curriculum includes traditional 12-step approaches combined with practical group therapy. Attendance at on-site 12-step meetings is mandatory. The length of stay for residential drug treatment (residential rehab) is targeted at 30 days. Occasionally, insurance and financial considerations shorten this slightly. In some circumstances, an individual's progress will require stays longer than 30 days. Here's the key: 1. rushing through drug treatment doesn't work, 2. staying for an excessive period of time and "hiding from the real world" doesn't work either. Thirty days--for many people--is the appropriate balance. However, in some cases, the length of stay can be set at 90 days to accommodate a client's specific needs. WHY DO I NEED RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT AND NOT OUTPATIENT? Drug rehab and treatment can be a difficult experience. It requires 100% effort and concentration. It also requires daily/hourly support and removal from the settings where drug abuse occurred. RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT (RESIDENTIAL DRUG REHAB) IS A GOOD FIT FOR YOU IF: - You are willing to actively participate in drug rehab (drug rehabilitation) alcohol rehab (alcohol rehabilitation) - You continue to use alcohol/drugs despite suffering significant financial, family, legal, and work consequences - You have medical or psychiatric (dual-diagnosis) problems - Your spouse or other family members are currently using - Your home situation is stressful and chaotic - You live alone, lost your job or have no transportation - You have tried substance abuse outpatient programs and failed - You cannot stay clean and sober without constant support - You cannot afford another relapse OTHER OPTIONS: INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM Intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) consists of group therapy lasting three to four hours each session. There are three sessions weekly. The usual course of drug treatment runs for 24 weeks.
