J. E. Stewart Builders, Inc. was founded in 1955 by J. E. Stewart, Sr. Mr. Stewart, Sr. moved to the Aiken area in 1951 during the construction of the Atomic Energy Commission's Savannah River Plant. Seeing the need in the Aiken area for a quality Home Builder, Mr. Stewart formed Stewart Builders in 1955. For the first 10 years, Stewart Builders was primarily concerned with home building, but in the mid 1960's the company became more diversified and entered into the commercial and industrial field.
