When I quit my job as a racing mechanic for the Harley-Davidson Factory Racing team in October of 1979, I never imagined that my new business venture, Storz Performance, would last a quarter century. As the only employee at the time, all of my thoughts were focused on how I might pay the shop rent for the coming month. Not what I’d be doing 25 years on.The business was started to provide XR750 Harley racing engines and tuning services to professional dirt track racers. The first catalog, produced in 1980, featured a selection of “racing only” parts for dirt track use.The racing origins of Storz Performance are an important part of our company history because the business of motorcycle racing is a demanding and exacting one. Success in racing is forged from hard work and dedication. Racing does not tolerate the imprecise nor does it reward those who place style ahead of function. Thorough preparation and attention to detail are the foundations of a successful effort.
