StrataLight Communications develops innovative fiber transmission subsystems for use by carriers in building next-generation long-haul optical networks. Our products are sold to carriers on an OEM basis by optical networking equipment manufacturers and system integrators. Our products deliver 40 Gbps data rate upgrades of previous and latest generation DWDM transport systems; they enable 40 Gbps transport in 10 Gbps optical channels, for long-haul, regional, and metro networks.Our first product family, the OTS-4000, is a 40 Gbps DWDM transport subsystem that has been proven in carrier field trials. Operating in conjunction with the newest generation core routers, the OTS-4000 has powered the world's first 40 Gbps IP networks.StrataLight's OTS-4000 series line cards support the retrofit of 40 Gbps SONET (OC-768c) or SDH (STM-256c) data into 10 Gbps optical channels, quadrupling the capacity of core transport networks. To accomplish this StrataLight has developed spectrally efficient transponder technology. OTS-4000 lightwave modulation technology narrows the optical spectral width of a 40 Gbps signal, allowing it to pass through 10 Gbps optical filters and line systems, while delivering improved tolerance to chromatic dispersion, PMD, and other fiber impairments.
