Description
Scanverter is a complete scan conversion system with VGA and Ethernet interfaces. It supports digital and analog cameras, area or line scan, with one or multiple outputs, including Base mode Camera Link. Scanverter generates a real-time VGA display, rasterizing on-the-fly in the case of multiple output cameras. Operation is completely plug-and-play and no programming is required - simply connect the camera, a VGA monitor, and a mouse. Panning, zooming, and camera parameters are controlled via simple, on-screen menus. For line scan applications, Scanverter ’s dynamic frame sizing feature facilitates camera synchronization and stable image display. With its FPGA-based video processor, 32-bit RISC, and 100base-T Ethernet interface the Scanverter can satisfy scan conversion, basic machine vision, and networked applications that would otherwise require a frame grabber and PC. Visualization The Scanverter can accept, rasterize, and display the output of a camera in real-time. Video data is reordered on-the-fly and displayed on a standard, user-supplied VGA monitor. The image can be inverted or mirrored and adjusted for brightness and contrast. With the Scanverter users "see what the camera sees." Focus, exposure, field-of-view and image parameters can be adjusted and observed without a PC and frame grabber and their associated costs and complexities. Network Connectivity The Scanverter can adapt an imager to an Ethernet network, allowing users to operate one or many cameras over the network. For example, a high-resolution imager can be attached to a building's existing network wiring and used for surveillance. Or a camera can be used from a laptop computer. The Scanverter offers a use-model rarely found in the machine vision industry... sophisticated cameras connected via a standard network and as easy to use as a consumer scanner or digital camera. Stride has developed a PhotoShop ™ plug-in which allows a 1kx1k MegaPlus ™ to be operated via an Ethernet (TCP/IP) connection. How it Works Stride can quickly adapt the Scanverter to most any camera, custom or off-the-shelf. A camera-specific adapter within the Scanverter matches the mechanical and electrical interface of the camera. The adapter can also provide application specific I/O and connections to ancillary equipment (e.g. strobe lights, encoders, other cameras, etc.). The camera adapter supplies data to a fast, dual-ported frame buffer. The buffer provides an elastic storage means allowing the imager and VGA display to run independently. Discontinuous data from multi-output imagers is rasterized (reordered) as it passes through the frame buffer. Data is also optionally transformed with an in-line look-up table (LUT) before being passed to the VGA display. A 32-bit RISC processor controls the Scanverter. Its high-speed and ample memory resources facilitate the Scanverter's adaptability to new and varied tasks. Its use of the Windows CE ™ operating system further enhances the Scanverter's flexibility.
