Lawrence ?Hatch? Merritt, age 82, formerly of Willamont Rd., passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 31, 1932 in Toledo to Norman and Sophia (Kurek) Merritt. Lawrence worked as a machinist for Press Equipment and Abbey Aetna for over 30 years, retiring in 1997. In his younger years, he worked for his uncles, at M&M Millworks remodeling kitchens and as a cabinet maker. Lawrence was always an inspiration to his family and co-workers, because of his strong work ethic.

Timothy F. McGinnis, 62, passed into the Glory of God this 6th day of June, 2014. Born in Toledo to Georgian Behner and William McGinnis on October 8, 1951, Tim was employed by General Motors for over 30 years, first as a forklift operator, then as their Employee Assistance Coordinator. Upon his retirement from GM, he quickly became employed at Workplace Resources and Behavioral Connections as a drug and alcohol counselor.

Toledo has a history of being very ethnic with strong European beliefs and customs. When William J. Sujkowski settled here in 1881, it was a diverse town with a large Polish population. William was very proud of his Polish heritage and wanted to show his appreciation. He established the Sujkowski Funeral Home in North Toledo in the 2800 block of LaGrange Street. Little did William realize he had created a tradition that would last well over a century. His funeral home contained a storefront with a complete display of caskets.
