Since 1984, Superior Graphite has been the leading producer of small diameter graphite electrodes. Our Russellville, Arkansas, USA facility specializes in the production of 200 mm - 450 mm (8" - 18") diameter high power (HP) and ultra-high power (UHP) ARK® electrodes, offered in 3 TPI, 4 TPI, and male / female joining systems. Specializing in the small diameter market enables Superior Graphite to apply years of graphite manufacturing experience and knowledge to our customers’ applications including: primary melting, ladle metallurgy, and specialty furnace applications worldwide.

The Federal Railroad Administration has shown that the majority of derailments take place within 200 to 300 yards of a switch. Railroad switches make up a major percentage of engineering department maintenance cost.

The Advanced Ceramics Industry, also know as Engineered Ceramics or the Technical Ceramics Industry, includes applications such as ceramic wear parts and ceramic armor. Superior Graphite is a key global supplier of high performance sub-micron silicon carbide powder to these markets, as well as a manufacturer of ceramic armor tiles.

It's not only a product, it’s a philosophy The name Formula BT® encompasses carbon and graphitic powders developed and manufactured by Superior Graphite primarily for use in the electrical energy marketplace. Formula BT® takes advantage of the unique continuous thermopurification treatment patented by Superior Graphite. This electro-thermal process exposes the raw materials, such as natural flake or vein graphite, synthetic graphite and various coke products to temperatures up to 2800ºC so that the volatiles, gases and impurities are vaporized.
