SBCH Architects The firm was founded in 1971 as Surber + Barber Architects. Surber Barber Choate & Hertlein Architects, Inc. was incorporated in Georgia in 1996. In 2006 the firm’s name was changed to Surber Barber Choate & Hertlein Architects, P.C. Eugene Surber and James Barber began their practice with a commitment to client service and design excellence. To build on this commitment, the firm ownership was later expanded to include James Choate and Dennis Hertlein.
