CHICAGO (March 28, 2006) - For the second consecutive year, Swedish Covenant Hospital is one of only two Chicago hospitals and one of only 36 facilities nationwide to be honored with the prestigious 2006 Hospital of Choice Award by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers (AAHCP). Other winners this year include Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and The Johns Hopkins Hospital.Winning hospitals must display a remarkable effort toward quality care; patient, family and physician satisfaction; and community service, according to the AAHCP.Facilities are judged on the AAHCP's 10-point criteria in professional ethics, standards of conduct, patients' rights, performance management, staff development and communication systems.
