News of lost laptops containing critical corporate and private data has drawn widespread attention to the risk inherent in carrying critical data around in public places where it is easily lost or stolen. National legislation has made it mandatory that companies and their executive management take responsibility for protecting their customers and clients by complying with laws that dictate how data and access to data are managed. Natural and man-made disasters (i.e. Katrina and 9/11) has proven how essential business continuity and disaster recovery plans are.
