By George Runner As an elected member of the California State Board of Equalization, I have the unique privilege of serving as a taxpayer advocate for the citizens of California. California is the only state in the nation that has an elected tax board that is directly accountable to voters. The five-member board on which I serve administers more than 30 tax programs and fees, including sales and use tax, tobacco tax, fuel taxes and timber yield taxes.

We believe every family, community and business can play a powerful role in creating an environmentally sustainable way of life, and leaving the world a better place for future generations. As a company we focus on lowering the carbon footprint of our internal operations, and that of every customer we serve. We strive to improve our local economy. We do this by purchasing our products locally whenever possible, by providing our customers with exceptional renewable energy solutions, and by providing our employees with jobs they can take pride in.

"Synergy is the ideal company to work with. For our solar installation, they took care of everything from planning the project, to processing the paper work with the county. All we had to do is agree to move forward with the project. Synergy prepared a study of our power usage, designed a system to meet our needs, and then checked back with us a year later to review our energy usage to be sure the system they designed performed as expected.

In 1992, his love of the outdoors and the anticipated arrival of his daughter brought Michael and his wife to Sonoma County. Michael was employed for ten years with Becoming Independent (BI), a program that supports and advocates for adults with developmental disabilities. His work at BI included capacities from direct service to management. This fostered a great pleasure and ability to work with people while developing problem solving, organization and management skills, which he brings to Synergy. In January 2003, Michael made a career change.
