In this capacity he designed hardware and supported the installation of copper cable systems for the Bell System. This work evolved into fiber optic systems in the late 1970's working with very early fiber testing such as the first OTDR's to be used on multi-mode fiber and evolving into current single mode fiber testing techniques.
