Description
What is Emotional Intelligence (EI)? In the words of noted authority Daniel Goleman, Emotional Intelligence is responsible for 85% to 96% of effective human performance. Consider this fact: logically, every minute per day we process approximately 36,000 bits of rational information. However, every minute of the day we process no less than 150,000 bits of emotional information. What does that mean? Think about your daily routine every week. Five days a week you do the same things. But, is every day the same? No, of course not. The reason you feel motivated, despondent, stressed out, on top of the world, is because of our emotional reactions to stimuli and that affects your performance. There are five basic areas of EI competency: Why Is It Important? Working with a trained career and education coach, Talent Curve offers individuals an opportunity to learn all their internal strengths and how to use them to overcome the obstacles that have prevented them from achieving what they want in any realm of growth. In her article, Productive Organizational Culture and High Emotional Intelligence: You Can't Have One Without the Other , Dr. Constance Stadler explains that: "[C]oncepts such as mission, vision, values, rites, rituals, and goals are no more than empty phrases if attention is not placed on employee perception, interpretation and enactment of ideas in conjuction with consistent leadership emphasis on what is truly valued." Employees can apply EI competency wherever they need: education/career/retirement advancement, spiritual connection, physical well being, mental stimulation, and/or emotional satisfaction.
