Description

Mr. Oslund was hired into WWISP because of his deep and broad experience in operations and management. Though is primary background is in manufacturing he has had an unusual background in technology. At WWISP he has created many processes that have boosted the quality of our service and enhanced productivity. He has re-energized the sales process by adding 2 new outside salespeople and 1 new inside sales person. The inside sales person has been able to obtain 2-4 appointments per day which has significantly increased proposal output and our closing ratio of the outside sales people. He has renegotiated a deal with our landlord that will update our entire infrastructure related to power and AC for the next 3-5 years without a rent increase. He has completely reworked our website and been aggressive in obtaining testimonials from our customers. He is also the most familiar with our efforts to win government contracts, especially under the federal government’s stimulus bill.

Mr. Talton led the company’s sales and operations efforts. During his tenure, the company grew from $100 thousand in revenues to $24 million when the company was sold in 1997. Mr. Talton was directly responsible for identifying all sales opportunities, planning sales strategy, preparing bid proposals, and designing systems and processes. In 1994, recognizing the need to have a feature rich, effective bad debt and billing management system, Mr. Talton designed the process which reduced the company’s bad debt from 18% to under 10%. This cost savings allowed the company to pursue much larger contracts. In 1995, the company won the contract to provide public telephone and inmate telephone services to the State of Alabama. At the time, Talton Telecommunications was the only private provider that served a statewide contract. This contract included over 33 facilities and 20,000 detainees. In 1997, Mr. Talton led the team that secured the same contract for the State of North Carolina. This contract encompassed 40 facilities and 30,000 detainees. The combined revenue of both contracts was $150 million.
