Taylor Box Company was founded in 1885 by Clarence Taylor in Providence, Rhode Island, as a manufacturer of jewelry cards, packaging for locally manufactured products and retail gift boxes. In those days we delivered boxes in the horse drawn wagon you see at right. In the early 1920s the company was purchased by Howard Scholes, a Brooklyn, New Yorker who had just married a local Edgewood, RI woman. The company moved several times within metropolitan Providence as it grew by adding customers in the small machine tool and silverware industries. In 1950 Mr.
