]]> Meet Arnest Sebbumba, an enterprising young farmer from Uganda whose experience in TechnoServe's STRYDE program inspired him to empower other rural youth in his community.

There is a frequent bias against partnering with informal providers of capital because of perceptions that such organizations are inferior in terms of efficiency, reliability and sustainability. And indeed, many informal financial institutions are undercapitalized and suffer from weak governance, low financial literacy and poor managerial capacity.

We provide smallholders with intensive, field-based agronomy and business training using local trainers.

TechnoServe began working with the cooperative’s members to develop their business and farming practices. With our support, Duromina acquired a wet mill, which enabled the cooperative to produce high-quality beans. TechnoServe helped connect Duromina to several international roasters that paid a premium price for the coffee.
