Karla Pattavina's Dance Academy 2010 - 2011 Dance Season www.dance-academy.com 978-372-9070 Karla Pattavina: Karla has been recognized with numerous awards for her outstanding choreography. She has earned countless Diamond Awards for choreography at the American Dance Awards. The many awards her students have won including overall high performance scores as well as Dance Scholarships from several different organizations are a reflection of her talents as a choreographer and a teacher. Karla brought sixteen students to perform at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Karla choreographed for the Rock and Roll gymnastics tour featuring Paul and Morgan Hamm and also had students perform on this tour. She is a former member of a professional dance group that performed throughout New England. She has taught master classes in tap and jazz for various dance organizations in Massachusetts and has also judged dance competitions for these organizations. Karla is a former Massachusetts state gymnastic champion (1978 & 1979) and a four year Merrimack Valley All Star high school gymnast. In November of 1999 she was inducted into Methuen High School Hall Of Fame. She is a graduate of The Dance Teacher's Club of Boston and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Salem State College in Physical Education. She then went on to serve on the college dance faculty for 4 years. Karla is the proud hockey mom of Nick (age 13) and dance mom to Shauna (age 8). The Dance Academy is now celebrating 25 years of success. Lisa Paley: Lisa has been involved in dance since the age of three. She was the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships throughout her years as a dance competitor. Lisa is a graduate of the Dance Teacher's Club of Boston Teacher Training Program. Lisa is also a graduate of Northern Essex Community College. Lisa began teaching and choreographing at a young age and was a two-time winner of the prestigious "Young Choreographer Award" from American Dance Awards. Her students have had the distinction of winning the Best of Jump award for 3 straight years from Break The Floor Productions. Lisa studies each year with world renowned teachers including Mandy Moore, Nick Lazarini and Tyce Diorio. In 2009 Lisa's choreography received top honors at the West Coast Dance Explosion regional competition and was entered into a national on-line dance competition. Patty Gauron: Patty received her Bachelor of Arts from Bradford College and Associate of Arts in dance from Dean College. She performed in the Macy's Day Parade in New York, and also in the 1996 Olympic Games. Patty is a former member of both Dean College and Bradford College dance companies and is now dancing with Exit Dance Theatre in Newburyport MA. Patty's passion and love for the art of ballet is evident in her teaching and choreography. Patty is the mother of two little girls that are already dancing and twirling before they learned to walk. Caity Mooradian: Caity is a long time member of The Dance Academy, first as a student and secondly as an instructor. Caity has graduated from Endicott College with a B.S. in Psychology. While at Endicott, she was a member of their dance team.
