was founded in 2013 by former Canty Dance Centre instructor & choreographer, Kristen Surprise St. Laurent. With over 25 years of dance experience and almost 10 years of teaching experience, Kristen is committed to providing quality dance education in a fun yet professional setting. TDS offers classes in several dance genres: ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical/contemporary, hip-hop, modern, tumbling/gymnastics and musical theatre/Broadway dance. In addition, we also offer special programs for our first-time tot dancers, as well as students of all ages with developmental delays and disabilities. Adult classes are also available - including dance, yoga, and cardio/strength/toning.

The Dancer's Sole is to instrument the development of a passion for dance, coupled with self-confidence and discipline, for students of all ages. The goals of our studio are measurable by a college-educated teaching staff with over 100 years of combined dance experience; the student's ability to practice working in a team-based setting; and a state-of-the-art studio space.

Kristen would like to thank her students for inspiring her to create, teach & pursue her ultimate passion of dance performance & choreography. She would like to thank her fellow teachers (who are also some of her greatest friends !) for inspiring, encouraging & supporting her both in & out of the dance studio. She would also like to thank her husband Stephen for being the studio's in-house sound technician and providing our music edits, DJ services & more - and more importantly, for being her number one fan.

Professionally, Kristen has had experience working with children of all ages in various educational settings. She has worked as a one-on-one aid for autistic preschoolers; as a Creative Movement instructor at the former Commerce Insurance Daycare in Webster, MA; as a camp counselor for terminally ill children at Camp Sunshine in Saco, ME; and as a Best Buddies mentor in Bristol, RI (the Roger Williams University chapter); and as the resident instructor for the Sutton Elementary After-Care Dance Program, teaching ballet & hip-hop to grades K-5.
