In 1988, as an associate practicing in a major Twin Cities law firm, I was struck by the lack of knowledgeable recruiters in the legal industry. Headhunters who were calling me and my colleagues had little understanding of the legal industry, little knowledge of what we lawyers did or what lawyers were looking for in new opportunities. After conducting substantial market research and based on the conviction that lawyers deserved more than a registry service, I founded THE ESQUIRE GROUPis now a national recruiting and consulting firm headquartered in Minneapolis, with an office in Denver (and soon other locations). THE ESQUIRE GROUPhas been recognized for our unique work with attorneys in such publications as Corporate Legal Times, the ABA Journal on Leadership & Management Directions, and Corporate Report.
