WEDU-TV (PBS), Tampa-St. Petersburg Florida West Coast Public Broadcasting, Incorporated, is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), telecommunications entity, which holds the license of WEDU-TV. The organization's mission is to serve the public good and to connect communities through broadcasting, the Web, and community outreach. WEDU is the premiere public television station licensed to Tampa and St. Petersburg, and covers 17 counties in West Central Florida. This market is the 14th largest in the US and comprises one-third the population of Florida. In February 2001, WEDU was the third most-watched public television station in the United States. WEDU first signed on the air October 17, 1958. WEDU has approximately 46,000 members. Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce, St. Pete Beach The mission of the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce is to provide a unified voice to enhance economic well being, to address common interests, and to promote the beach communities of Belleair Beach, Belleair Bluffs, Belleair Shore, Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores, Madeira Beach, North Redington Beach, Redington Beach, Redington Shores, South Pasadena, St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island. These beach communities are located on barrier islands that hug the mainland, and in some instances, are only a few hundred feet wide. Their 26 miles of white sandy beaches stretch from Belleair Beach to the north, to Pass-A-Grille, the southern-most tip of St. Pete Beach. The beach communities play host to millions of visitors each year. Located on the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the Tampa Bay Beaches are just across the bay from Tampa and a 90-minute drive from Orlando.
