Service to the community and the professional development of employees are vital to The Provident Bank's success.Bob was named Chairman of the Board in May 2004. He previously served as the Bank's Chief Executive Officer. He joined The Provident Bank as President and Chief Executive Officer in 1995. Bob has over 35 years of banking experience, having previously worked with community banks in northeastern Massachusetts. Bob serves on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Amesbury and the Occupational Advisory Board of Northern Essex Community College. He also is a member of the Merrimack Valley Economic Development Council and is a Corporator of Anna Jaques Hospital. Bob received his B.A. from Dartmouth College and has an M.B.A. from the Tuck School at Dartmouth.Charlie was appointed President in May 2003 and Chief Executive Officer in May 2004 succeeding Bob Becker. He brings over 30 years of banking experience to the CEO position. Charlie joined the Bank in 1998 as Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer. He actively participates with many community organizations. Charlie is Chairman of the Greater Newburyport Community Center Foundation and is immediate Past Chairman of the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce. He is Chairman of the Anna Jaques Community Health Foundation. Charlie is also a member of the YWCA's Steering Committee and a Director of the Newburyport Education Foundation. Charlie is a graduate of Lowell Tech and received his M.B.A. from Suffolk University.
