Pure Movement focuses on the artistry of dance, while exposing young people to the history, foundation and progression of dance culture. The Institute offers its students the highest quality dance training available, while providing convenient class times, and a family-friendly atmosphere. PMDI founder and owner, Rhea Gill (pictured here with a student back stage at the 2010 recital) holds a Bachelor's of Fine and Performing Arts in Dance and is committed to children's arts education. In addition to owning Pure Movement, Gill is also executive director of the Arts Are Basic Program , an arts and education program founded by the Lied Center for Performing Arts. "I have taken my experience as an artist, a teacher and as an arts presenter to provide my students with a creative and engaging educational opportunity. The families who attend my facility recognize that it is not merely a dance school, but rather a place for higher learning and artistic exploration." Gill has spent the summer of 2010 updating the studio space at PMDI. The Institute uses only professional sprung floors which are designed to provide give and spring to the legs. On top of each of the sprung floors is a layer of professional harlequin Marley dance flooring, which provides more cushion to the leg along with a slip resistant surface. These are the only floors of their kind in Lincoln and are the same as those used by Juilliard.
