I am asked constantly about software, hardware and software development methods. As most of you know, I have been involved with Enterprise-level Software Development for decades and I am not short on opinions. Understanding how all these element come together is my speciality. I have grouped the products according to usage and I will be going back as time permits and commenting on each. The lines a becoming more and more blurred when it comes to categories. Many companies are developing their own proprietary software suites" in order to lock companies into "their platform." There are some advantages and disadvantages to each. Because of these "suites", delineating As a consultant for low these many decades, I am typically not involved in selecting the elements of the hardware, software developments or even the development method to use. The calls to me typically go something like, "Here's what we've chosen, here's what we want, can you make this work. Oh yes, and can you start tomorrow? We're already six weeks late."
