Description

Under limited supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to manage, plan and integrate the database systems supporting FEI infrastructure. This includes, but is not limited to: database and storage planning, database implementation, maintenance coordination, ongoing configuration, performance tuning and management of all Database hosts and instances. The prime technology is SSRS and .NET so candidates should have strong background in both Principal Responsibilities: Applies knowledge of trends, relevant system development technologies and methodologies. Ensures quality and consistency of design, development (if applicable), testing, and integration testing cycles. Collaborates with other engineers and architects to create guidelines, methodologies, and documentation. Drives continuous improvement; may include design, definition of roadmaps, standardization of processes and methodologies. Formulates and implements monitoring, policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management. Provides technical expertise for resolution of outages. Manages and maintains appropriate development, test and production environments . Ensures technical documentation is kept current. Participates in the CM (Change Management) process and the deployment of solutions to the production environment. Maintains overall responsibility for quality of production deployments. Oversees future implementations and/or upgrades and ensures that support standards are in place. Defines and performs proactive activities and tasks required for optimization of stability, performance and architecture. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Evaluates SQL efficiency and makes recommendations for improvements to optimize system performance . Develops scripts to optimize database performance . Configures systems and tools to automate manual tasks . Makes use of command scripting and scheduling to reduce errors . Ensures enterprise changes are tracked and controlled. Qualifications: Required: College degree and 6 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 8 years of related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 10 years related work experience required. Self starter with minimum supervision. Available after hours as needed in support of FEI data administration. Strong written and verbal communication skills for updates and documentation. Highly motivated. Ability to develop and write system documentation. Substantial hands-on experience with all aspects of administration of SQL server 2005/2008. Solid experience designing, implementing and maintaining production scripts. Strong SQL skills and well versed in developing views/stored procedures on SQL Server. Solid networking fundamentals with respect to networks and database management. Experience with Database physical storage organization and optimization (e.g. database physical file organization, RAID disk configurations, storage area network, IO optimization, etc.). Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, conducive to team development.
