Project Summary: Laura Angst Hall is a 66,000 SF Science and Health facility. It includes labs and classrooms for nursing, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, hemodialysis, phlebotomy, medical assistant and medical office skills. For the science department labs and classrooms were constructed for Anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and water quality. In addition to these labs and classrooms the building also houses 8,000 SF of administration offices and two distant learning classrooms. The building is a two story structural steel building with CMU and brick veneer. Laura Angst Hall is projected to achieve a Gold LEED certification. Some design features of the building that helped reach that goal included photovoltaic panels with the ability to provide 4% of the buildings power needs, lighting controls that takes into account natural light, low flow plumbing fixtures and onsite treatment of 20% of roof rainwater. Construction features that helped achieve this goal included recycling of 97% of construction and demolition waste, Chito San treatment of storm water run-off, 27% of the building products came from recycled material and 25% came from within a 500 mile radius of the project.
