Description

Leighton has been a field representative for the last three years, covering the Houston metro and East Texas areas. He is also part of the negotiating team for 14 cities within his area for collective bargaining, and meet and confer. Leighton has been in law enforcement for over 17 years. While with the Groves Police Department, he was the Advanced Accident Investigator, as well as the President of the Groves and Port Neches Police Officers Associations. He is currently a Reserve Police Officer at the Groves PD.

TMPA is dedicated to supporting members at a local level. In fiscal year 2013, TMPA Field Representatives and Trainers traveled more than 172,270 miles attending meetings, events and fundraisers, training officers, and recruiting new members. TMPA Charities was created because TMPA is dedicated to supporting our members, their families and our communities.

TMPA was founded in 1950 to protect the interests of peace officers and is a strong law enforcement lobbying force locally, at the Capitol and beyond. Today we protect law enforcement interests through the TMPA Political Action Committee (PAC). A PAC is the legal means to lobby and express support for or opposition to issues that are important to law enforcement officers. Through the PAC fund, TMPA contributes to the campaigns of those champions who support law enforcement. The PAC exists to give a voice to many who otherwise would not be heard.

TMPA is the Voice of Texas Law Enforcement. TMPA was founded in 1950 and has protected the interests of law enforcement officers ever since. As the largest law enforcement association in Texas, TMPA is proud to represent more than 20,000 local, county and state law enforcement officers across Texas.
