Now burning bright in Virginia for 25 years, the Flame of Hope has once again successfully carried the message of respect, inclusion and unity across the Commonwealth. In 2010, the Virginia Law Enforcement Torch Run spread the message of Special Olympics Virginia more prominently than ever through fundraising events, speaking engagements, volunteerism, and running the Flame of Hope almost 2,000 miles to the Summer Games this past June. They play key roles at the Torch Run Kick-Off, Regional Runs and Final Leg, as well as provide volunteer support at several state-level competitions. They also have created innovative ways for their customers to support Special Olympics through campaigns like SunTrust's "My Cause" promotion and Macy's "Shop for a Cause" day.
