Description

Mississippi's franchise tax applies to most corporations doing business in the state (value of capital used or attributed to state). The rate is $2.50 per $1,000 of the value of the capital used, invested or employed in the state. The tax base consists of capital stock issued and outstanding, surplus and undivided profits and true reserves. However, the tax base cannot be less than the corporation's assessed value of real and tangible personal property in Mississippi.

In 2003, Tunica County opened a 7,000-foot expanded runway and new Corporate Air Center at Tunica Airport (UTA). Installation of ICS/MALRS, PAPI and AWOS was completed in 2004. A canopy at the corporate air terminal provides for easy access inside the terminal. Air traffic control tower, hangars (private and corporate), commercial apron concrete - 320,000 square feet, commercial terminal, and expansion of the runway to 8,500 feet are some of the improvements completed in 2005.
