Description
Area Ghost Towns – Lake Valley was a silver-mining town in Sierra County. Chloride is located 60 miles north of Las Cruces on Highway 52. Hillsboro was founded in 1877 as a gold miner’s town. Today, Hillsboro’s features quaint gift shops, restaurants, the Black Range Museum and the remains of the Sierra County Courthouse. Winston was first settled in 1881, now features the home and carriage house owned by founder Frank Winston, along with an 1890’s schoolhouse.
