Description

Marina graduated from New York University with a B.S. in applied psychological studies and an M.A. in educational psychology. Her field placement experience is in special education and she holds an early childhood education teaching credential. Marina has over ten years of experience in the field of mental health and education, including extensive experience in applications for learning and the brain in neuropsychology. She has completed all coursework for BCBA certification and is undergoing training for Board Certification. Marina is an Intermediate DIR® Floortime™ provider and has additional training in PRT, RDI, Sonrise, and DTT therapies. In addition to her relationship with Tutor Corps, she runs the Open Mind Center for Brain and Behavior, a mental health outreach clinic that provides school consulting, professional development training, in home therapy, and community outreach. Marina is the founding board member and executive director of the nonprofit Open Mind School in Palo Alto.

We provide learning skills development such as organization, time management and study skills. We have extensive experience assisting students with a range of learning abilities and styles, including behavioral and learning challenges such as ADD/ADHD or executive processing, as well as a variety of health issues.

Project Title: Lucky’s Friends Inc, A California Corporation Grantee: Colby Choi Associated School: Castilleja School, Palo Alto CA For tenth grade student Colby Choi, animals are a vital addition to the health and wellbeing of the elderly and disabled patrons she’s come to know through her work with the well known service, Meals on Wheels. Colby’s idea for the community service project Lucky’s Friends evolved when she started volunteering with a local Burlingame chapter of Meals on Wheels in 2012. The purpose of Lucky's Friends is to deliver food to pets whose owners are unable to provide for them, either due to lack of resources or mobility. Colby has spent time fundraising for this project by coordinating pet food drives in her local community, collecting pet food and monetary donations, and by standing in front of stores and appealing to patrons through solicitation for donations. With the community service grant, she would like to purchase more food for distribution and expand her reach to provide a more consistent schedule of delivery.

Tutor Corps is a family-run educational services company, directed by brothers Jesse and Noel Rosencranz. Jesse and Noel have always shared a passion for learning. After graduating from Stanford University, they sought opportunities that would allow them to instill the same passion in others. Founded in 2002, Tutor Corps provides personalized, in-home tutoring for students who need academic support and want to excel.
